The Vision

Chatham Kings is building the adult and community side of basketball in Chatham-Kent — leagues, events, and a shared identity — and rallying the whole basketball community behind bringing a semi-pro team to the region.

Our Mission

Chatham-Kent has strong youth basketball. The Wildcats build the foundation. Kent Basketball Academy and the high schools sharpen serious young players. What’s been missing is the next step — somewhere for adults to keep playing, and a team the whole community can get behind.

That’s what Chatham Kings is for. We’re the adult and community layer at the top of the pathway. We run adult rec leagues and drop-in basketball. We host community events. And we’re working to bring a semi-professional franchise to Chatham-Kent through the Basketball Super League.

We’re the next step in the pathway, not a competitor in it.

The Pathway

Three layers, three roles, one basketball community. Here's how we fit — and how we're different.

Chatham Kings

Adult leagues, community events, semi-pro ambition

We own the 18-and-over space: adult rec leagues, drop-in runs, community tournaments, and the campaign to land a semi-pro franchise. This is what Kings is.

KBA & High Schools

Youth high-performance and school competition

Kent Basketball Academy runs intensive skills training for grades 4–12. High school programs provide the competitive season. Together, they sharpen the serious young player.

Chatham-Kent Wildcats

Youth development — house league and travel

The Wildcats are the foundation. They introduce kids to the game through house league and development programs, and provide rep/travel ball for competitive youth.

The Semi-Pro Dream

A Basketball Super League franchise in Chatham-Kent.

The Basketball Super League (BSL) is expanding across Ontario, and Chatham-Kent is on the radar. We’re working to show the league that this community has the passion, the infrastructure, and the demand to support a semi-professional team.

This isn’t confirmed yet — it’s a goal. But every pledge of support, every season-ticket interest form, and every volunteer who steps up makes the case stronger. We believe Chatham-Kent is ready.

Common Questions

Is Chatham Kings a youth program?

No. Kings is exclusively for adults (18+) and the semi-pro initiative. For youth basketball in Chatham-Kent, we recommend the Chatham-Kent Wildcats and Kent Basketball Academy.

Are you affiliated with the Wildcats or KBA?

We're not affiliated with or endorsed by either organisation. We respect what they do and see ourselves as the next chapter in the same story — not a competitor.

Is the semi-pro team confirmed?

Not yet. The Basketball Super League is considering a Chatham-Kent franchise, and we're working to demonstrate community support. It's a goal we're actively pursuing.

What can I do right now?

Play in our adult rec leagues, sign up to show your support for the semi-pro bid, or volunteer to help us build this. Every bit of community backing matters.
